Bitumen

The running costs associated with the storage of bitumen and bituminous products has always been of concern.

Benninghoven have for many years laid great emphasis on research and development in this area resulting in a range of bitumen storage tanks and associated equipment which minimizes energy usage and heat loss, thereby reducing running costs.

Bitumen is an irreplaceable component of asphalt. Quality and availability are essential.

Tanks are available in horizontal or vertical configuration, stationary or mobile, electric or hot oil heated, together with all ancillary items including: hot oil heaters, pumps, metering systems, thermostats, level indication, stirrers, heated and lagged pipework and controls.

Highlights

  • Low energy usage
  • High destiny insulation material
  • Minimum heat loss
  • Constant temperature control
  • Off-peak power usage
  • Low running costs

Polymer Plant

The plant is designed for the modifying of bitumen with different types of polymers. From the existing storage tanks the components of bitumen and polymer can be measured into the fast mixer to any required recipe. After premixing, the material is delivered from the fast mixer into the homogenizer, where a physical-chemical reaction takes place resulting in a completely concentrated product. After this the concentrate can be mixed with raw bitumen in a static mixer to obtain a final product. Dependant on the type of bitumen, polymer and the final product, a capacity between 15-30 t/h can be attained.

Emulsion Plant

The containerized bitumen emulsion plant from Benninghoven fulfils the exacting requirements of state-of-the-art emulsion technology. The batch system of this plant offers the option of producing all known types of emulsion, ranging from simple tack coat through to high-tech slurry emulsion. The different feed lines for bitumen and water can be managed individually and adjusted independently of each other during production.

Bitumen production and transport infrastructure changed considerably within the last years and therefore a new logistic structure was developed. According to that structure, bitumen terminals are and will be necessary in the future.

Benninghoven engineers customized solutions which are characterized by reliability and efficiency. The original Benninghoven control system is responsible for handling and controlling of the whole plant.
